Near the historic center of the Swiss city of Willisau, a plot of land was underused for decades. This project proposed high quality apartments with a smart interpretation of building regulation to maximize comfort and usable space. Willisiau Apartments is consisting of 40 unit apartments, complemented with large and flexible commercial spaces on the ground floor. The brick facade referencing the historic building material commonly used for refined residential projects in the early 20th century. The composition of the volumes in the urban context allows for the introduction of a relatively high density without compromising the overall grain of the neighbourhood.
