Villa Baloo
Villa Baloo is a private residence that emerges from the jungle canopy in Ubud, Bali. The design responds to its extraordinary site — a steep, forested ravine overlooking the Ayung River valley.
The architecture is organized as a series of interconnected pavilions, each oriented to capture specific views and breezes. Traditional Balinese construction techniques — exposed timber frames, natural stone foundations, alang-alang thatching — are combined with contemporary spatial planning to create a home that feels both ancient and precisely modern.
Every material was selected for its capacity to age gracefully within the tropical climate. Ulin ironwood decking, hand-applied limewash walls, and locally quarried lava stone create a palette that belongs to its place.
