Beach Shacks
Beach Shacks is a series of modular eco-cabins for a beachfront site in Pemuteran, north Bali. Each unit is prefabricated and designed to be relocatable — a direct response to the site’s coastal vulnerability and the client’s desire for flexibility.
The structures are raised on steel columns above the sand, minimizing ground disturbance and allowing natural water flow beneath. Steel framing with burnt wood cladding structural integrity while maintaining the visual lightness appropriate to a beach setting.
Traditional alang-alang (balinese grass) roofing establishes vernacular luxury. Cross-ventilation is designed into every unit through careful orientation and operable louvers. The result is architecture that touches the earth lightly and responds to its climate.
